A letter from our President on International Women's Day
On International Women’s Day, I find myself reflecting on lessons learned from women I admire and respect. There are so many strong, courageous, and compassionate women making a difference in the world. Today, my mother, and DriverCheck co-founder Dr. Mary-Jean Page, comes to mind. A highly intelligent, resilient, caring, and creative woman, she was key in building our company from the ground up.
After I became President of DriverCheck, I would often (and still do) go to my mother for guidance and perspective. One of the valuable lessons she taught me was to approach challenges head on, with authenticity, love, and perseverance, and with a strong understanding of our values. This has helped me personally and professionally.
Thanks in large part to my mother, DriverCheck has clear family values centered around providing good medicine, and a purpose of building a healthier and safer world, and I have these values, and this purpose, front of mind when making decisions. As a mother myself, we have developed values as a family that help us through tough times.
The UN has announced that this year’s theme is “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”. Their event will recognize how women around the world are responding to and taking on climate change. As one who marvels at Mother Nature, I am excited about this year’s theme. There are so many talented and bright women of all ages who are so fierce in their commitment to protecting our world, it makes me extremely hopeful for the future. These women are very much letting their values lead as they fight this issue head on – it makes us proud!
Respectfully,
Maggie Dunnett
President, DriverCheck Inc.
