Spirometry Testing Resuming at DriverCheck Clinics

June 21, 2022

Dear Valued Client,

We are happy to announce that we will resume conducting spirometry testing at our DriverCheck Clinics effective July 4, 2022.

This communication is to update you on DriverCheck Clinics’ temporary health and safety measures to mitigate risk of COVID-19 infections and transmissions while performing spirometry testing, ensuring the continued safety of our staff, our clients, and our operations.

Spirometry appointments will continue to be booked as they normally have been through our Booking Department. The administration of a respiratory questionnaire is recommended when conducting any lung function testing including spirometry.

Individuals who are coming to a DriverCheck Clinic for a spirometry test should be made aware of the following expectations and procedures:

  • Ensure that you arrive to your appointment with government-issued photo identification.

  • Individuals scheduled for an appointment at a DriverCheck clinic will continue to be screened with an electronic COVID-19 symptom screening questionnaire.

  • Employees will complete the questionnaire on their phone or mobile device by scanning a QR Code at the door. Those who do not have a capable device may notify the clinic staff to receive assistance with their screening.

  • If an individual is symptomatic, they will be excluded from spirometry testing and can rebook only once their symptoms have resolved for a minimum of 24 hours.

  • Wear a medical-grade mask throughout their appointment except for those moments when they are being tested.

  • Refrain from eating and/or smoking 1 hour prior to your scheduled appointment.

  • If an individual does not attend their scheduled appointment, this will result in a no-show fee. Please ensure to communicate with DriverCheck (if you scheduled the appointment) or your employer if you are not able to make your appointment.

  • Please arrive on time for your appointment to complete any required paperwork.

Any spirometry testing that is deferred in good faith to mitigate COVID-19 transmission risk remains legally required and should be performed at the earliest opportunity.

COVID-19 remains a health threat. Our clinics have always followed strict infection control standards and will continue to follow established guidelines set by provincial public health units to ensure the protection of your employees and our staff. DriverCheck will continue to monitor the situation and make necessary changes when appropriate, as our commitment to your employees’ health and safety remains the same.

Rest assured, these procedures are designed to create the safest environment for our visitors and staff. Thank you for your patience and understanding in keeping our employees and our workplaces safe during the pandemic.

Sincerely,

Jonathan W. Davids, MD
